Wolff sees no porpoising at Mercedes this year

During the break during the first day of testing, several team bosses gave a brief press conference. Motorsport-Total reports that Christian Horner and Toto Wolff, among others, were asked about some early results based on the first practice session.

At Mercedes, the main focus is on 'porpoising'. The bouncing of the car restricted Mercedes a lot last year. This morning it could already be seen that some bouncing still took place in Pierre Gasly's Alpine, among others. But according to Wolff, they are not worried about that at Mercedes. George Russell reportedly did not suffer from porpoising during his practice session.

No need to change test days

In the run-up to the test days, there was frequent criticism that three test days would be too little time. Russell and Lando Norris, among others, would have liked more testing time. But Horner and Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur want nothing to do with that. Both team bosses say they are fine with the current situation.

The idea of perhaps sending two cars onto the track at the same time was also floated, but that too was dismissed by Vasseur and Horner. According to Horner, the reliability of the cars is so high that there is no need to send a second car along.

No word yet on Stroll

The most striking answer from the press conference came from Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack. Aston Martin has Felipe Drugovich on the track during the first day of testing instead of Lance Stroll because Stroll is unable to compete due to an injury. Krack was asked whether Stroll would be able to run the first race of the season, and the team boss did not want to make a definitive statement on that. But even more remarkably, Krack also did not want to define exactly what kind of injury Stroll has.
