Does Verstappen regret missing out on equalling his record?

Max Verstappen would take 10 wins in a row for the second time if he managed to win in Australia. This did not happen, as the Dutchman crashed out after only three laps because his right-rear brakes failed to cool. After his stoppage, the three-time world champion responded to a question about his missed record.

It would be a miraculous achievement. Never before had anyone managed to win 10 consecutive times in Formula 1, until Verstappen did in 2023. He finally broke the record held by Sebastian Vettel at the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit since 2013. The race after that, in Singapore, the Dutchman failed to win.

After the Singapore Grand Prix, Verstappen won everything again until the weekend in Australia, bringing him back to nine wins in a row. He could have equalled his own record, but it did not come that far.

However, Verstappen says that missing out on equalling his record doesn't really interest him: "I'm not really interested in these kind of things. I just want to win and if it's a win, second, win, second, or 11 in a row, whatever for me, that doesn't really matter. As long we win the championship, that's the most important."
