Nicholas Latifi is far from certain of his seat at Williams in 2023. The team has not yet announced its line-up for next year and if it is up to Latifi, the British team will take a critical look at which races his performance will be judged on.

The Canadian driver failed to match team-mate Alexander Albon but feels he has made progress in the last four races and wants to be judged on that performance if he is to keep his seat. He is referring to the new chassis he was given in Britain, which he says has improved his performance. Latifi feels that the fact he feels more comfortable is reflected in his performance and allows him to get the most out of the car, he told Motorsport.com.

Driving style not changed

Whether there was something really wrong with his old chassis or whether there was something wrong with several parts of it is difficult to say. But after his disillusioned departure from his home country after struggling in Australia, the performance has improved since Silverstone. The Williams driver stresses that he has not changed his approach or driving style. For himself, he sees a big difference in how far he can go with the car and feels comfortable pushing the limits. He also quickly mastered the upgrades the team brought in for the Austrian GP and is pleased with his performance in both qualifying and the race.

Latifi not worried about future

Although his future in Formula 1 is still uncertain, Latifi says he is not worried about it and wants to focus on his performance. He does not see any point in worrying about a possible goodbye to his team and perhaps Formula 1. He recognises that it is part of the sport and wants to continue his upward trend to convince the team that he should keep the seat for the coming season.
