It is common knowledge that Max Verstappen is already thinking about his life after Formula 1. The Dutchman rules out still driving in the king class at 40. In an interview with Michael Loré, the 41-time race winner says that winning world titles appeases his hunger.

Verstappen already has two world titles under his belt and is well on his way to a third. The Limburger currently has a 69-point lead over number two in the standings, teammate Sergio Perez. The Red Bull driver has hinted on several occasions that winning a world title was his biggest dream and he has now achieved it.

World titles satisfy Verstappen's hunger

In a conversation that can be seen on Michael Loré's YouTube channel, the Dutchman elaborates on his future plans. Winning world titles appeases his hunger. "I love racing, I still do, but I also want to do things outside of Formula 1 at some stage," he says honestly. Verstappen says he gained a new perspective after winning his titles: "It’s about desire. If you would not have won them, you keep on trying, to achieve something like that."

For the current world champion, that is different now. "Now that I have won them, it is nice to win another one, and another one. But it is basically the same thing. So, it is not something that will keep me here forever." Verstappen indicates that his possible departure from Formula 1 will have to do with his motivation. "It is about whether I can motivate myself to the fullest every year to stay [in Formula 1]," he says. Verstappen's contract at Red Bull runs until 2028.
