Former F1 driver Wilson Fittipaldi jr. chocked during a Christmas dinner and has since been in hospital. The brother of two-time world champion Emerson Fittipaldi suffered a cardiac arrest in the process. His wife confirmed this on Instagram.
Wilson Fittipaldi Jr. competed in the Formula 1 championship between 1972 and 1975 after which he founded a team with his brother. His wife tells on Instagram how the heart attack could have happened. "During Christmas lunch, Wilson choked on a piece of meat and went into cardiac arrest. He has been resuscitated and is sedated and intubated. We are waiting for him to wake up."
Following the tragic event, the Fittipaldi family can count on a lot of support: "Yesterday I received countless phone calls and sweet messages of support for the whole family, Christian [Fittipaldi, son of Wilson.] is with us every day, I appreciate all the messages. It is the messages that give us much strength during this very difficult time. Please continue the positive vibes of health and recovery for Wilson."
