George Russell found himself in seventh at the conclusion of FP2, with the Mercedes struggling to find balance in the car and thus have lost a lot of pace from the top two, as they fall back into the grasp of those behind him. Although believes that he can find a "happy medium" between his set up and that of teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Disappointment for Russell

It was a far from a successful session for the Brit and that was reflected in a post-practice interview with Sky Sport where the 24-year-old commented on his team's performance in Canada thus far. "Ultimately wasn't where we want it to be. We're quite a long way off the pace compared to the front two teams" the Former Formula 2 champion noted, before adding "We've got worst today."

Mercedes nightmare continues

The young talent noted the how demanding the track was physically in his Silver Arrows, "Still very bumpy to be honest, just for the stiffness of these cars are just brutal", "Here you really feel the stiffness as we sort of did in Monaco and it's something we're trying to tackle" The Briton concluded. When questioned about changing his driving around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, noted that "I definitely can't run them (the kerbs) as much as we used to".

Looking Ahead

"In FP2 that was probably the biggest deviation of set up, Lewis and I have had all season, We went in two very drastically different directions and we'll probably be able to find the happy medium between the two. We're going to be working hard. We just need to make sure we qualify ahead of the midfield" highlighted Russell as he looked to take a positive spin on a negative day for the Bromley-based team
