It is a well-known fact that Hamilton and Alonso are not good friends. In the 2007 season, things didn't work out between the drivers at
McLaren and fifteen years later, the two are still not on good terms, despite rarely meeting on track. On the first lap of the Belgian GP there was a touché between Hamilton and Alonso, with the former at fault. Alonso was furious and let it be known over the team radio.

The Guardian Hamilton stated that he would not go back to his rival to apologise.
"No. I would have until I heard what he said. I know that’s how things feel in the heat of the moment, but it’s nice to know how he feels about me.”
Alonso was able to continue his way and eventually finished fifth at
Spa-Francorchamps. Hamilton suffered too much damage in the incident and Sunday was soon over for him. The record-breaking champion is glad he suffered no injuries.
"I remember looking at the ground, it was definitely high up. I’m grateful to be still alive and in shape,” he concluded.
