You would not think it considering the faces at Mercedes, but the German formation won the Constructors' Championship on Sunday. The team of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas already had one hand on their eighth title in a row, but in Abu Dhabi the matter was finally settled.
Mercedes picked up 26 points at the Yas Marina Circuit, thanks to Hamilton's second place and Bottas' P6. That was the same number of points as Red Bull Racing scored after Max Verstappen's victory and fastest lap of the day. Sergio Perez was unable to score any points as the Mexican crashed out due to an oil pressure problem.
AlphaTauri came reasonably close to Alpine's fifth place after fourth and fifth place finishes from Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly respectively, but it proved not enough to overtake the French stable. Ferrari finished number three in 2021, ahead of McLaren.
