Max Verstappen is not entirely satisfied after the second free practice session at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver has yet to find the right balance with his RB19, and then it didn't help either that a total of perhaps only 25 minutes could actually be driven at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Verstappen had ceded his seat to Jake Dennis in the first free practice session. The 26-year-old Dutchman was therefore hoping for a productive FP2 with both qualifying runs and longruns, but little came of it. Due to red flags caused by Carlos Sainz and later Nico Hulkenberg, Verstappen was only given limited time to put in miles.
Whether Verstappen was able to learn anything this Friday? "Well, yeah, not so much. I think also from our side the balance was very off. A lot of understeer and a lot of jumping, so definitely a few things to figure out for tomorrow," he told GPblog and others .
After today's second red flag, everyone wanted to go out on the track at the same time. All that did not go fast enough for Verstappen as he overtook three cars at pit exit. Max did not sound very happy over the board radio with the driving behaviour of his predecessors. "No, they have to move. I mean, they're all driving slow and I want to go out because we're all limited on time, and they just keep on driving in the middle. And then, when I tried to pass, they tried to squeeze me in the wall. So, yeah, a bit silly."
For Red Bull, there is the necessary homework on the shelf to go into qualifying and the race well prepared. Tomorrow, Verstappen and his team still have 60 minutes to get everything on track. "A lot to figure out for FP3 to be good in qualifying, but we'll see," he said. Verstappen concluded: "I also didn't expect us to be so far off, so that's also a bit of a question mark for us. I mean, we're still P3. It's not too bad. But balance-wise, I think it can be a lot better. So, we'll try and have a look at what happened there."
Lol... You guys are funny....GP Blog needs to start putting warnings up before reading the comments.... Sickness pills must be taking before reading surely...?
What a presumptuous little brat! This is Formula1 and not Max1. The stewards should step in here and put him back in his place.
Presumptuous and put him back in his place... funny you say that.. Here for you to understand: "As per article 33.4 of the Formula 1 sporting regulations, drivers are not allowed to go unnecessarily slow, that includes stopping a car in the fast lane of the pitlane" "During shootout and qualifying, drivers may create a gap between the pit exit lights and the SC2 line," "Any driver who wishes to do so must drive as far to the left as possible to allow other drivers to pass them on the right side of the pit exit road." If there's one who needs to be recalled the rules, look for a car with a 44 on it...
Max just show mercwhat he going do at weeked just keep over taking the merc for a nother new record
What's Lewis got to do with it? He's not the one creating potential red flags. One day Max might have pole and decide to protect it by crashing into someone (again deliberately) in the pitlane, blame them for being slow and not moving, and cause a red flag so no-one can get their final runs in. That is something Max would do imo and also something that I wouldn't be surprised if Red Bull would advise him to do.
Lewis broke the rules yesterday by failing to stay to the left and allow other cars to pass. He blocked Max who was entitled to pass him.
No, no not at all. A reply doesn't mean I'm triggered. Hell, we'd all be triggered here if that was the case. I could ask that of you every time you replied. I always write long posts, you're not special, and it seems people with short attention spans are always complaining about whilst at the same time trying to insinuate that my comments don't have value. For me, I think you need things explaining to you in a clear and adult way. I'm trying to treat you like an adult despite your childish commentary. I don't have anything to be bitter about. And its 'hypocrisy' not 'hypocracy'. I was going to mention your error last time, but I thought if I include the correct spelling in my last post, you'd pick up on it. Sadly you didn't. You talk like you're in some sort of club. There is no favourites tab. See this is what I'm talking about. You are so full of guff, you make it hard for someone to believe they are talking to an adult. And in case you're very young I feel I should tread carefully in case your Dad gets angry. I enjoyed the race. Merc secured 2nd place despite the efforts of Red Bull and Ferrari. I will assume your reply to be you being triggered. :)
Triggered much? These 2 essay tirades saying absolutely nothing apart from showing your bitterness and hypocracy are worth keeping you around for. You give us all a good laugh. We keep you on favourites tab so when things are tough we look at your essays and realise we get it easy compared to you. Enjoy the race.
At what point are you going to start arguing like an adult? When you troll, you sound like a child. You wouldn't dare criticise Max. Lightly maybe in a way to make sure you stay all friendly with the RB fans. But to go at Max properly, I don't think you have it in you. Where is my confusion exactly? This strange claim of yours has no merit without example or evidence. Are you suggesting that all Mercedes/Hamilton fans must own a Mercedes car and sport that logo instead of one from their own car? Am I to sell my BMW because I support Hamilton who drives for Mercedes? What cars are RB fans driving (or Williams fans? - still got that worn out old Clio?). RB don't make cars so if they wanted to put the badge from their car here, then what? Your argument is childish and immature. Of course I'm happy with the 'M' logo. My own car has it in several places. I do have a Mercedes Petronas T-shirt though. Should I be allowed to wear it whilst driving a BMW? Jeez. Someone find me an adult to talk to.
When Lewis or Max deserve it they will get it. And I have actually done both on this site in the past year. As per usual, your memory isnt the best. But I dont expect much better from a confused soul who supports Mercedes/Hamilton and yet is happy to have the M Sport logo as his avatar.
Lewis was not breaking the rules by driving out of the pitlane. If he broke a rule he would have been investigated for it. There was no carS to allow passed, only 1, Max. Lewis is entitled to move over in his own good time and he did so. Max was pushing everyone out of the way, accusing them of wanting to put him into the wall, then when he got on track he slowed down (probably a retaliatory move as usual from him). I'm waiting for the day that you as a Williams fan write a comment in support of Lewis or with criticism of Max. That will be an interesting moment.
Its Max that puts people in their place in Abu Dhabi. btw it is Max 1 in every sense where it matters. No1 driver in the world No1 on his car No1 current highest money earner No 1 most popular driver on the grid No1 favourite to win the WDC in 2024. .....and on and on and on.
What hypocracy? If following the rules in any given day is hypocracy then go Max. Hes a better person than you.
"Hes a better person than you." The argument of a 5 year old. Jeez, grow up. The hypocrisy is that Max impeded cars in the pitlane by being stationary for 14s. He was fine with holding up others. Now, when others hold him up, he whinges and moans and is the only one suddenly in a hurry to get out. Then when he squeezes past everyone in his frantic rush to be ahead, he gets on track an goes slow to make space. He holds others up then complains when he is held up. That's the hypocrisy. Put the rules aside for the moment. What is Max had stayed stationary in that pit lane for so long that he prevented other cars from completing their final run as the clock runs out? All fine from Max's POV right? Now, Imagine Lewis staying stationary at the front and preventing others including Max from getting in their final run. Max would complain and you along with others would complain at Lewis for being unsporting and everything else. And you wouldn't care one bit if the rules allowed it. Lewis is a better person than you.
