Logan Sargeant has completed half of his first season in Formula 1. The rookie is the only one from the 2022 Formula 2 championship who could make the switch to the pinacle of motorsport. He is currently 19th in the championship.
The American's teammate Alexander Albon already has a bit more experience in Formula 1. As such, he already picked up 11 points for the Williams team, giving him the 13th spot in the championship. So he knows how to get more out of the car so far.
Sargeant himself also knows he can get more out of the car. To a question from GPblog about what he needs to change, he replied, "It's actually very small things but the small things that make a big difference. There were points in the year where I was simply holding the brake too late into the corners and slowing the minimum speed down too much. Got on top of that. Just inputs in high-speed corners causing instabilities, things like that. There's countless things that I can continue on. It's all just very minor driving traits that needed to be adjusted. Loads of things just to suit the car better. That didn't really affect the balance of a car in Formula 2. With how sensitive these cars are, those small differences make quite a significant difference."
In the junior classes, Sargeant has previously driven at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. In Formula 3, he even won the race. Following a question from GPblog Sargeant let us know that his experience on the Ardennes circuit definitely helps: "You're up to speed quicker. You're on the limit quicker than on tracks that you don't know. It just speeds everything up a little bit. I think on a sprint weekend, that's important because you have to be up to speed quickly. So it should be fine, I think. I've been comfortable here in the past. I've been driving here since 2017. So it should be good. I think we should have a good car here and I feel good here."
