This weekend the
Racing Point seems to be able to compete again for the podium places. Last weekend
Sergio Perez came close, but in the end the
McLaren of
Lando Norris went to the podium. Team boss
Andreas Seidl remains hopeful after Friday at Spielberg, but expects Racing Point to have the best cards to the Grand Prix.
"I am quite satisfied, because we could confirm again with P5 and P8 that we are there. It's good to see that we are fighting with Ferrari, Renault and one of the Racing Point cars", Seidl said to Sky Sports F1. "If you look at the cars in front of us, today we saw for the first time that Racing Point really showed the potential of the one-year-old Mercedes".
Suddenly half a second faster
Seidl expects that lap time to be too much for his drivers. "That was definitely a lap time we couldn't do, but still it was a good session for us". Last weekend they also drove at Spielberg and therefore last week's results are somewhat comparable to this week's results. Seidl sees some remarkable changes in that.
"We know we're not far from our limit now, but suddenly Perez is half a second ahead of us, while we were fighting with him in qualifying last weekend", Seidl concludes.
