It was an eventful start to the 2025 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. The incident into Turn 1 was noted between Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, while Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly made contact, causing a safety car.
Piastri got off to a great start, and was alongside the Dutchman into Turn 1, doing a move similar to what Verstappen did on multiple occasions.
Verstappen chose to cut the corner, and kept the lead this way. "He needs to give that back, I was ahead," the Australian said over the team radio.
On the other hand, Verstappen pointed to the fact that Piastri 'did not want to make that corner'.
Over the laps behind the safety car, the incident was now investigated by the stewards, and once the restart took place, he received a five-second penalty. Reacting to that, he said: "That is f***ing lovely."

Safety Car for Gasly-Tsunoda incident

In Turn 4, the former teammates at AlphaTauri (now called Racing Bulls), Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda made contact. In what seemed like a racing incident, the Frenchman ended in the wall. Tsunoda could continue and return to the pit lane, but was also forced to retire.
