The third free practice session for the Mexican Grand Prix is about to begin. The Formula 1 drivers will have the last chance to prepare for qualifying and the race. This will certainly also be needed after the Pirelli tyre test in FP2.
The second free practice session was dominated by the Pirelli tyre test for 2023. As such, the session was not very representative. Lewis Hamilton was ultimately the fastest man on the new tyres, while George Russell recorded the best time on the current 2022 tyres
In FP1, Carlos Sainz was the fastest man, closely followed by teammate Charles Leclerc. The Red Bull Racing drivers also seem to be evenly matched in Mexico, as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez recorded exactly the same time in FP1. The Dutchman was not entirely happy with the grip though and spun off the track.
