Perez wants to help Verstappen: "I think we can support him well"

For Sergio Perez there is little left to win in Abu Dhabi. The Mexican is fourth in the championship and nothing can change that. Theoretically Red Bull Racing can still overtake Mercedes in the Constructors' standings, but the team would then have to make up 28 points. For Perez, his task is clear: help his teammate Max Verstappen to the world title.
Perez still hopes Red Bull can take the constructors' championship, but admits that will be a tough task due to the large gap. "A lot can still happen," he says hopefully.
Verstappen title now also a priority for Perez
For Perez too, this weekend is all about the world drivers' title. "That's the most important thing right now," the Mexican acknowledges. "The fact that Max can become world champion is very important for the team. I think we can support him well in that."
Perez's help will be crucial for Red Bull this coming weekend. Mercedes have been in better form since the last few races and that is also the expectation for Abu Dhabi. A strong qualifying performance for both drivers is therefore more important than ever.
