Marko has respect for Verstappen: 'He has many strengths'

Helmut Marko enjoyed the way Max Verstappen won the world title last season. The Dutchman didn't only dare to take risks on the track, but also off the track he stood his ground. In conversation with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Red Bull Racing's advisor talks about his greatest qualities.
Marko was also in Formula 1 a long time ago, but he never displayed anywhere near as much talent as Verstappen has. The Dutchman joined the Austrian team at a young age and has developed so rapidly in recent years that he managed to beat Lewis Hamilton in the world championship this season.
"He has many strengths, but especially the fact that he doesn't have to warm up," Marko stated. "He gets on the track and goes fast, even on wet roads or on a new circuit like Jeddah. His other quality is his remarkable aggressiveness. If there is even the slightest possibility of overtaking, he doesn't let it go."
Speed of Verstappen also catches Marko's eye
Marko is also impressed by the speed shown by Verstappen. According to the Austrian, it's clear that Verstappen deserved the world title this season and can only continue to grow in the coming years. Meanwhile, Red Bull are working hard behind the scenes to keep the driver connected to the team for a longer period of time.
