Max Verstappen came out on top last season by crossing the finish line first at the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Dutchman put in a great season and that did not go unnoticed by the other team owners.
They were instructed by
the official website of Formula 1 the assignment to compose the ten best drivers of the season on an anonymous basis. Where the driver in the first place got 25 points, the driver in the tenth place got one point. It resulted in an interesting result, where Verstappen is on top again.
The Dutchman received 213 points to his name, giving him 21 points more than his rival
Lewis Hamilton. On the third spot it was not
Sergio Perez and
Valtteri Bottas, who raced for
Red Bull Racing and Mercedes respectively, but
Lando Norris who was the lucky one. The Briton left a good impression, especially in the first half of the season.
Bottas is in ninth, Perez is not even in the top ten.
Carlos Sainz and
Charles Leclerc, both for
Ferrari, occupy the fourth and fifth places. Fernando Alonso,
Pierre Gasly,
George Russell and
Esteban Ocon are also part of the first ten drivers.
Verstappen also on top before
A week and a half ago
Autosport.com did a similar poll, with Verstappen and Hamilton also on the first two spots. Alonso was higher on that list, however, in fifth place. In 2020 and 2019, Hamilton was the best twice.
