Schumacher deems chance for Vettel small: 'Wolff has many other talents'
- GPblog.com
Since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has not shown any sign that he will or won't continue, so now there are even rumors that Sebastian Vettel might take over his seat at Mercedes. Ralf Schumacher, however, is not putting his money on that outcome.
Hamilton was denied an eighth World Championship in the cruelist of fashions and is considering his future in the sport, with the FIA investigation crucial to his decision. The seven-time World Champion could choose to walk away from the sport, and retire, despite having a contract for 2022.
If that is the case, Mercedes will of course have to search for a replacement with lightning speed and a logical outcome would be Sebastian Vettel. The German would almost certainly accept that offer, Ralf Schumacher said. "Of course, if he gets the chance to join the team, he will take it 100 percent, because then he has a greater chance to fight for the championship again," the former F1 driver explained to Sky Sports Deutschland.
Very small chance for Vettel
Moreover, the Aston Martin driver knows Mercedes' engine, but despite that Schumacher does not expect the switch to happen. Indeed, the German argued that Hamilton has not yet officially left and if he does, Toto Wolff has 'a lot of other talents' at hand. Schumacher is therefore not putting his money on Vettel.
