- GPblog.com
Alpine has announced several promotions within the team as part of a restructuring of the technical department, with the aim of achieving the best results in 2022.
Both Pat Fry and Matt Harman are promoted within the team. Former technical director Fry is promoted to chief technical officer, while Harman takes over the role of technical director.
The restructuring aims to get the best performance out of the car. The team wants to maximize results with the advent of the new regulations. Fry will become responsible for setting the car's performance goals, as well as the team's development strategy. Harman will focus on the car's performance on the track and the various tests the team will conduct.
Many changes within the team
"We are considerably strengthening Alpine F1 Team by having Pat and Matt at the helm of Engineering in Enstone. Pat is one of the most experienced engineers in Formula 1, while Matt’s drive and expertise will prove critical in extracting the full potential of our race cars, thanks in particular to his unique expertise combining chassis and engine development", CEO Laurent Rossi said in an official press release.
The restructuring will not stop there. Indeed, last month news emerged that Marcin Budkowski is leaving his position as executive director. Strong rumors have been circulating for some time that Otmar Szafnauer will become the new team boss of Alpine after his departure from Aston Martin. Alain Prost also left his role as advisor to Alpine after disagreements within the team.
