Bottas takes responsibility: 'Will guide and lead them'

Valtteri Bottas begins a new adventure at Alfa Romeo this season with new responsibilities, but he is more motivated than ever.
Bottas is ready to lead
Bottas was allowed to drive the new Alfa Romeo C42 on February 15 during the shakedown at Fiorano, but next month he can start his new life with this new team and his new teammate. It will certainly take some getting used to, as he goes from the best team in 2021 to the second worst team, but that should not spoil the fun. The motivation is great nonetheless.
After the shakedown, the Finn is mainly busy getting to know the team and spending a lot of time in the simulator. Nevertheless, he is already very much looking forward to the test days, because the car felt good during the shakedown and so he is hopeful that the team can also make real progress. "With my experience, I will try to guide the team as much as possible and in a way lead and take responsibility. I can invest my time in this effort now and this will help in the long run to prove that there is also a life outside of Mercedes," he told AS.com.
In 2021 they finished below Williams
Alfa Romeo finished eighth in the constructors' championship in 2019 and 2020 above Haas and Williams, but last year they were the second worst team as George Russell finished on the podium once and both Williams drivers scored points multiple times. The Italian team's goal will certainly be to score more points again and fight for podium spots.
