Carlos Sainz happy with result but doesn't "fully understand car yet"
Ferrari's Carlos Sainz believes it's good news that he was fighting for pole as he admits "I have been half a second behind all weekend". The Spaniard finds himself in new territory as in his own words "The problem is I've never been so far behind'
Weekend Progress
The 27-year-old had this to say to Sky Sports "I am happy with the progress I've done throughout the weekend I have been far off". The second-generation drive acknowledges that he is "Really struggling with this car to understand how to drive it" and that this causes him to be "I am thinking a lot while driving and that takes up space."
Slight Disappointment
The Ferrari Driver is slightly disappointed as "Not managing to extract the extra tenth is a pity." as he finishes close behind his teammate Charles Leclerc and World Champion Max Verstappen. However overall "To be fighting for pole was good news for me.". The Spanish born driver is looking back as "last year I was at the max a couple of tenths, this weekend I had to fight a 7-8 tenth deficit.", but is still overall optimistic about the rest of the season.
