Andretti in the waiting room at the FIA: 'Hope and pray'
- GPblog.com
The Andretti family hopes to participate in Formula 1 with its own team in the future. Although the request reached the FIA some time ago, Michael Andretti is still waiting for an answer. In the meantime, however, he is not sitting still at all.
While Mario and Michael Andretti had already tried to buy Haas in recent years, they came out with the news earlier this year that they intended to get their own Formula One team on the track. It didn't just stop at plans, as both men made an official request to the FIA.
Andretti must wait and see for now
The latter organization seems to be taking the Andretti's plan seriously. It is in fact taking extensive time to look at the request. For the time being, it is therefore unknown whether the pair can prepare for a future in the motorsport class. However, Michael Andretti remains optimistic about the next few years.
"While we’re waiting, we’re doing a lot of work behind the scenes," Andretti says in an interview with RACER.com. "We are preparing for it, because we have to start. So we are doing things, hoping that we get a shot at it. We have to start making some moves and hope and pray that the FIA allows us to have a shot at getting in there."
