Schumacher: 'Weight of RB18 affects tire wear and braking'

Ralf Schumacher thinks Red Bull Racing would benefit enormously from losing kilograms. The RB18 is said to be some ten kilograms heavier than the Ferrari and according to Schumacher, the consequences became painfully obvious in the Australian Grand Prix. Fellow analyst Timo Glock let slip in the afterthought on German Sky further to think that Charles Leclerc is already the absolute number one at Ferrari.
"I think weight is an issue there, it affects tire wear and it affects braking in the corners," Schumacher said of Red Bull's car. Ferrari, in particular, is said to have a lighter floor than the Austrian competition."Then of course that's a big advantage because it lowers the center of gravity of a race car."
Leclerc team leader
Leclerc has come out of the winter break incredibly well and managed to make a big impression in the first three Grands Prix. Each time he was faster than teammate Carlos Sainz in the moments that mattered. Ferrari is desperate to regain a world championship and it seems that everything will have to give way. Sainz will probably have to conform to a place on the second plan.
Glock: "Leclerc is currently on an absolute high. Within the team, the cards have been shuffled quite early. I am sure that in certain situations Ferrari will give Charles priority as soon as possible. Leclerc is the leader in the world championship, and Carlos Sainz is already 38 points behind. I think the Italians are clear on how to proceed," concludes the former Formula 1 driver.
