Red Bull Racing will also be boarding drivers in French Formula 4 starting this season. Souta Arao and Yuto Nomura, two Japanese talents, will be based in France and hope to gain a foothold in Europe through Red Bull Racing's junior team.
"In an ongoing effort to grow new young talent in motorsport, the Red Bull Junior Driver Team has now expanded into the French F4 series with two exciting Japanese talents, Arao and Nomura," Helmut Marko reveals. There will be collaboration with the FFSA Academy giving these talented guys the chance to show their full potential. "We look forward to seeing them grow in 2022."
Red Bull has been following Formula 4 for some time, but had no talents of its own driving around in this class. Ayumu Iwasa was included in Red Bull's talent program last year following his 2020 Formula 4 title, while former F4 competitor Isack Hadjar has also been supported by the Milton Keynes-based team since this season.
Red Bull is known for investing hugely in talent. The hope of the Austrians is that one of their own boys will eventually manage to make the step into Formula One. Liam Lawson, Jehan Daruvala, Juri Vips, Dennis Hauger, Iwasa, Jonny Edgar, Hadjar, Jak Crawford, Noel Leon, Arao, Nomura and Arvid Lindblad are all currently part of the junior program.
The French Formula 4 season begins on April 16, this coming weekend.
