Nikita Mazepin still thought in the first months of 2022 that he would be racing for Haas this season, but nothing was further from the truth. Because of the Russian attack on Ukraine, the American racing team decided to say goodbye to him immediately, so Mazepin is currently thinking about his future. He is keeping all options open.

The Russian driver experienced his first season in Formula 1 in 2021, enduring a tough seasion with the backmarkers. In the new season he hoped to do a lot better. However, it was not to be.

"My career is suspended for a while now," concludes Mazepin in conversation with Formulapassion.it. "But I have been involved in motorsport for eighteen years and I have no intention of leaving it. I will stay fit and I hope to return to Formula 1. If it doesn't work out, I will consider other options." In doing so, he points to Dakar, among others.

Magnussen shows himself at Haas

Kevin Magnussen joined Haas in place of Mazepin. That choice doesn't seem to have gone badly at all, because with twelve points he currently occupies ninth place in the world championship. His teammate Mick Schumacher still hasn't managed to get on the board.
