Red Bull Racing had to deal with porpoising during the first days of testing in Barcelona. The Austrian racing team was by no means the only team, as almost all of the cars bounced across the road. The team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez managed to find a solution very quickly, but according to Auto, Motor und Sport the necessary luck may have been involved.
As reigning world champion Red Bull hoped to fight for the prizes again prior to the season, but because of the new regulations the formation did not have an easy time of it. In addition to developing the new car it also had to deal with porpoising.
Red Bull found a quick solution for porpoising
Where other teams are still struggling with the problem after three Grands Prix, Red Bull is different. On the last day of the winter tests in Barcelona, the Austrians managed to bring an update that stopped the bouncing on the road.
"Since Red Bull surprised itself by gaining three-quarters of a second, the competition assumes that Adrian Newey's team found its way out of the porpoising earlier by chance," the medium states. "At standstill, the Red Bull is relatively high at the rear, but the strong sparking betrays that the car sinks with increasing speed without bouncing."
