Verstappen sober: 'I never paid attention to that'

Max Verstappen managed to win the world title last season for the first time in his career. The Dutchman seems to have enough talent to break several records in the coming years, but the driver does not think that is important at all. He tells this in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Since Verstappen made the switch to Red Bull Racing in the spring of 2016, the expectations surrounding him have been high. Although he didn't manage to beat Mercedes in his first few seasons, he managed to do so last race year.
Verstappen continues to take a sober view of the situation
It made him realize once again that as a driver he is very dependent on the car his team makes. This season he seems to have a renewed claim to the world title, but twice he has had to scrap his car due to technical problems. Verstappen, therefore, does not dare to make any predictions about how the coming seasons will go.
"I've never paid attention to records or numbers," Verstappen says. "Winning races and titles don't just depend on yourself or your commitment, but on the car you have. So my goal is to do my best every Sunday."
