Fernando Alonso, after 5 Grand Prix is yet to score a single point, marking one of his worst F1 season's starts. A 'sad' situation, which he hopes the team can revert. It happened again in Jeddah. Fernando Alonso looked like he had given it all throughout the weekend, and the result was the same as it has been throughout the five race weekends so far: 0 points.
Alonso and Aston Martin completely dedicated, no matter what
"I hope there is stuff coming that can change the situation," said Alonso after the race in Saudi Arabia, which saw him finish P12 at the line, P11 after Liam Lawson's penalty time was added to his overall race time, some 8 seconds off Isack Hadjar in P10.
"At the moment we are not where we wanted to be. Japan and here today especially was heartbreaking to be P11 with the race I think we did. To not score any points or to not have any luck is sad but you know it shows that we keep pushing."
Alonso then took heart in the team's dedication, regardless of the aspired result.
"When we are fighting for the podiums we give our 100%, when we are fighting for P12 or P11 we still give our 100%. So this is what we will continue to do in the next races and all through this year. I think it's gonna be difficult to score any point, but we will keep trying."
Aston Martin are out of ideas
Trying, is all Alonso has left to do. But doing so beyond the limits, may yield an unwanted outcome, the Aston Martin driver says.
"It's hard because if I crash everyone will blame that it's my mistake. But I'm not satisfied with the position we are in. You push beyond the limits just to unlock some potential from the car."
Alonso reveals then that the Aston Martin trackside team are at a loss in terms of ideas.
"At the moment it has been a difficult weekend. We didn't unlock any pace. We tried many different setups. All of them have more or less the same outcome at the end in the lap. So we really need something from the factory, not from the trackside. I think we ran out of ideas at the moment.
