Red Bull Racing saw Max Verstappen take pole position for Saturday afternoon's sprint race on Friday during qualifying for the Grand Prix in Imola. It was to the relief of Helmut Marko who hopes to experience a positive weekend with the team.
Prior to the season, the Austrian racing team hoped to be in contention for the world title. The team still lacks some speed compared to Ferrari, but Verstappen also had to cope with two retirements due to technical problems.
Red Bull worked hard on the car in the last two weeks and sees a clear improvement. "Our update works," Marko proudly states in conversation with ServusTV. The Red Bull advisor points to the improved cooling of the rear brake, while there was also an update to the floor.
Marko expects challenging Saturday in Italy
With Verstappen in the first starting position, Marko is hoping to bring in a lot of points this weekend. He expects Verstappen to cash in on his starting position, although there is some work to be done first during the second free practice. "We've hardly had any experience in dry weather. But once you're up front, it should be easier."
