After making a false start to the 2022
Formula 1 season,
Max Verstappen has significantly reduced the gap to championship leader
Charles Leclerc. The difference is now only 28 points.
With that, the Dutchman swaps places with
Carlos Sainz, who saw his race end very quickly after contact with
Daniel Ricciardo and scored no points.
Sergio Perez climbs up to P3 and swaps places with
George Russell, who is still doing well with his underperforming Mercedes.
After the sprint race on Saturday, Verstappen still had a gap of no less than 45 points to bridge to the
Ferrari driver. Thanks to his dominant victory and Leclerc's mistake in the final stage of the race he has managed to reduce that gap to 28 points.
