The Formula One teams are gearing up for the Miami Grand Prix that is coming up this weekend. For Toto Wolff, the main thing is for Mercedes to finish a convincing race weekend, although there is hardly anything to say about the race yet.
Partly because of the years of great success at COTA, the FIA decided to have a second Formula One race in America starting in the current season. The circuit in Miami decided to apply, so the drivers will start in the illustrious city for the first time. For Wolff, next weekend causes some question marks.
"Miami is an exciting new challenge and a complete step into the unknown," states the team boss in conversation with Formula1.com. "The track looks demanding, with a real mix of low and high-speed corners, and it’s set to be a spectacular showcase for the sport to our growing US fanbase."
New American GP in Las Vegas
From 2023 onwards there will even be three annual GPs in the United States. In a year and a half, a race in Las Vegas will be on the program. The circuit offers the drivers some long straights, where it is a possibility that they can improve the current speed record.
