Leclerc cautious of Red Bull after pole position: "Tight challenge"
Charles Leclerc will start the first Miami Grand Prix from pole position. He will have Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz alongside after Max Verstappen made a small mistake in the final lap of qualifying. Leclerc marks his third pole position of the season.
Bouncing back
The current World Championship leader made a crucial mistake in the Imola Grand Prix last time out. He threw away a lot of points whilst his Dutch rival took the race win. Leclerc was pleased to bounce back in the first meaningful session.
"The last weekend wasn't great for me, I did a mistake in the race. Today went well so we start on pole and have to finish the job tomorrow. The fans are crazy, it's incredible to be here and see how the sport has grown over the last few years. A lot of Ferrari fans so it's amazing," Leclerc said in the post-session interview.
Though Leclerc has Sainz alongside in P2, Leclerc sees the strong threat from Red Bull Racing in P3 and P4. He admits he is worried about their straight-line performance on the two long straights in Miami.
"They are extremely quick in the straight lines, and we are quick in the corners. It will be a tight challenge tomorrow," he added.
