Aston Martin gives clarity on future plans with Vettel
- GPblog.com
Sebastian Vettel is experiencing a difficult season with Aston Martin. Where the German hoped before the season that he could compete in the midfield of the driver's field, he is as yet fighting exclusively for the points. In conversation with Sportschau team boss, Mike Krack expresses his confidence in him.
According to earlier rumours, Aston Martin is working to replace Vettel next season. The four-time world champion has an expiring contract, so the team could easily part with him. Moreover, the team would like to work with a young driver.
This would be Mick Schumacher, who is currently part of the Haas team. Although the talent has yet to score a point for the American racing team, Aston Martin would like to see his qualities. Besides Schumacher, other drivers are said to be on the list.
Aston Martin's confidence in Vettel is high
Krack emphasizes in the interview that this is not in play and that Aston Martin would prefer to continue with Vettel. "When you have a driver like Sebastian, you have to try to keep him. It's just a mix of extreme driving skills and experience and also a very, very positive person who takes us forward."
