Carlos Sainz has not exactly been in his best form since his contract extension at Ferrari. While Charles Leclerc is fighting for victory with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez every weekend, the Spaniard is having a harder time. According to him, this does not affect the relationship he has with Leclerc, as he says in an interview with Formula1.com.

At the beginning of the season Ferrari announced that it did not want to express a preference for Sainz and Leclerc, but after seven Grands Prix it is clear which driver can fight for the world title. Leclerc in fact has a lead of no less than 33 points in the world championship.

Leclerc and Sainz have a good relationship

Sainz reveals in the interview that he is working hard to improve himself quickly. Although he likes to win from his teammate, he assures that the bond between Leclerc and him is still very good. The driver is therefore happy that the Monegasque is his teammate.

"He’s a great guy, we have a lot of mutual respect, which helps our working relationship," Sainz explained. "He’s doing a great job adapting to the new car, the new regs, he’s extracting everything out of this Ferrari that I’m trying to do also, and in certain ways copy. I’m having fun with him, we get on well – and we work in the same direction, which is important."
