Helmut Marko saw his driver Max Verstappen dominate during qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix. The Dutchman seemed to have no trouble at all in the wet conditions and was ultimately 0.645 seconds faster than Fernando Alonso on P2 in Q3.

Display of power by Verstappen

"A demonstration of strength," says Red Bull Racing advisor Marko when asked by ORF to comment on Verstappen's qualifying. In all three sessions of qualifying, the Dutchman was consistently at the top of the timesheet, usually with gigantic leads.

"He was sometimes a second ahead and without any uncertainty. I haven't seen such an impressive performance in a long time," said Marko. Verstappen drove perfectly in the rain in Canada and saw direct competitors for the title Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc offer no opposition. Leclerc was already assured a spot on the back row of the grid due to the change of several engine parts, Perez threw away his qualifying by shooting off the track and ending up in the wall.
