Alonso doesn't want to take a risk in Canada: 'Privileged position'

Fernando Alonso will be back on the front row of the grid in Canada for the first time in a decade. The Spaniard will try to overtake Max Verstappen immediately, although he states to Sky Sports that he is not going to take any risks.
After a difficult start to the season, Alonso is showing excellent form in Canada. Although there may be more in the race, the driver does not want to take unnecessary risks. "If there isn't a chance I won't do any kamikaze moves because we are in a priviledged position and we want to capitalize on this position," Alonso let it be known.
However, Alonso states in the interview that he certainly intends to make things difficult for Verstappen. "It depends how we do the first 50 meters. If I see a chance, I will try to overtake him," said the driver, who does see a big challenge ahead of him. "We start on the wrong side of the grid."
Alonso enjoys Alpine's performance
The experienced driver stressed that it was not a given that Alpine would start on the front row of the grid. According to Alonso, it has therefore to do with the problems of Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc, while other competitors miss the opportunities in Canada. His teammate Esteban Ocon will start the race from P7.
