This weekend the 91st Moto GP TT of Assen will be held. Francesco Bagnaia takes his second pole in a row and will start Sunday's Dutch motorbike race from first place.
Bagnaia vs Quartararo in MotoGP TT Assen
Following Valentino Rossi's retirement, there is no longer an overwhelming favourite in the championship for the Dutch MotoGP fans on the sidelines at Assen. Marc Marquez will also not be present this weekend, as he is still recovering from an injury. One rider to watch out for this weekend is Italian Ducati rider Bagnaia, who took his second pole position in a row at Assen on Saturday.
Bagnaia seems to have a bit of Max Verstappen syndrome in recent races in MotoGP. Since Spain, the Italian has won every race he has finished. That is, he won the race in Spain and Italy, but crashed out in the races of France, Catalonia and Germany. With his pole position in Assen, the Italian really needs to win another race. He is 91 points behind number one Fabian Quartararo.
Assen TT starts Sunday 14:00
The Frenchman will also start from the front row behind his Italian rival; the TT of Assen is a circuit that suits him well. Bagnaia did cause a stir with his fastest lap of 1:31:504, breaking the track record at the Drenthe circuit. Tomorrow at 13:00 UK time, the race of 'the most beautiful weekend of the year' will start at the TT Circuit Assen. This year's event is not yet completely sold out. There are still tickets available for seats on several grandstands and some seats on the embankment along the track.
