Leclerc: 'I will be champion if I win everything and Verstappen finishes second'

Charles Leclerc has certainly not given up hope of a world title in 2022. The Monegasque lost 25 points in the French Grand Prix to closest rival Max Verstappen, who has now moved up to 63 points in the lead.
Leclerc does not give up
"Maybe people will think I'm crazy, but when I see the statistics, I know that if I win every race and Max comes second without driving the fastest lap every time, I've seen it on Twitter, we can still win the championship," Leclerc said in front of the microphone of RTBF.
Leclerc is not the only one at Ferrari holding out hope for the title. Team boss Mattia Binotto revealed on Monday that the Scuderia wants to go into the summer break with a one-two in Hungary, while Carlos Sainz thinks Verstappen might make a few mistakes later in the season.
Ten more races to win
"So now I just have to win all the remaining races. It won't be easy, but that's the spirit we have to have. Otherwise I can stay at home. What motivates me in F1 is winning, so I will believe in it until the end," Leclerc concluded.
