Perez hopes to profit from rain at Spa: "Hopefully we are competitive"

Formula 1 has descended on Spa-Francorchamps, where the 2022 season will continue this weekend. Sergio Perez goes into the weekend just five points behind championship runner-up Charles Leclerc. He will be hoping to take chances in the unpredictable weather conditions and deliver a good result for Red Bull Racing.
Red Bull has enjoyed an advantage on the home straight all season, where the RB18's top speed is hard to match. Ferrari, however, have done all they can to close that gap, so it's a question of seeing who has the best credentials for the Belgian Grand Prix.
Rain expected at Spa
Last year Max Verstappen won the 'race', which consisted of nothing more than two laps behind the safety car. Due to the extreme rainfall, which also caused dangerous situations during qualifying, the start was constantly postponed and there was no race. Rain is expected at Spa this weekend, as has often been the case in the past.
Perez will be hoping to take advantage of the conditions and secure a good result for Red Bull, after finishing off the podium a few times. "Hopefully we are competitive, it would be nice to be in the mix for the win. It's looking wet for the next few days so that gives a few opportunities," the Mexican said during the press conference on Sky Sports.
