Perez struggled: 'Then it is very hard to learn anything'

Sergio Perez came out of the summer break struggling. The Mexican worked hard in the first two free practice sessions of the Belgian Grand Prix to prepare for Saturday's qualifying session, but the results were far from satisfactory.
In both sessions, Perez only just managed to finish among the first half of the drivers. With two tenth-place finishes, he and Red Bull Racing still have a lot of work to do. Nevertheless, Max Verstappen's teammate is confident that things will work out.
"We didn’t have the rhythm out there today and part of that was down to the conditions," Perez revealed in the Austrian racing team's press release. "But we also had a little issue with the rear wing, so we stopped for some time but that was resolved."

Perez struggled in other areas. "Our time on track wasn’t ideal today due to the weather, especially on the final lap of FP2 on the soft tyre when things were a bit on the damper side. As soon as you get a damp corner you fully lose the balance on the track and it is very hard to learn anything."
