After yet another disappointing result for Ferrari, the Italian media seems resigned to the knowledge that the Formula One championship is all but over. They do, however, still take hope from the Italian Grand Prix, which is next on the calendar.
Resignation prevails among the Italian media, after yet another Max Verstappen victory at the Dutch Grand Prix. At La Gazzetta dello Sport one sees the focus shifting to Mercedes, which according to the newspaper is now often faster than Ferrari. "There is only one big chance left to take the pride, a kind of giant 'all-in' poker game. It's called Monza," writes the Italian medium.
'Verstappen has already won this championship'
"Max Verstappen has already won this world championship and while he waits for the title to become a calculus, he is taking away the last possible treat." La Gazzetta hopes the home race at Monza will loosen something at Ferrari, causing the Scuderia to do everything in its power to keep Verstappen from victory.
At Corriere dello Sport on the other hand, disappointment reigns again. While one was dazzled by the 'almost divinely bright' orange of Verstappen, the newspaper saw Ferrari's red fading. Here too the opinion is that Mercedes has surpassed the Italian team, and the newspaper fears that Ferrari will be the third team to start the race in Monza.
Corriere della Sera The newspaper gives Ferrari a failing grade for its performance in Zandvoort. The team's mistake during Carlos Sainz' pit stop has been harshly criticised, adding to the 'black list of mistakes' this season. The performance of F1-75 has also been heavily criticised: "He's been performing badly for three races now. Are they targeting Williams perhaps?", it sounds cynical.
