Toto Wolff hopes that Porsche, despite the broken deal with Red Bull Racing, will still appear on the Formula 1 grid in the future. According to the Mercedes team boss, that would be a "great addition" to the sport.
Wolff hopes to see Porsche on F1 grid
Porsche was in talks with Red Bull about a possible partnership from 2026, but the talks broke down as the two parties could not agree on the terms. Despite this, the German manufacturer still hopes to make its entry into motorsport's premier class in the future. Earlier, Audi, which like Porsche is under parent company Volkswagen, announced that it will commit to F1 from 2026.
Wolff thinks this is a good thing and hopes Porsche can do the same. "It would be a great thing for F1 if Porsche would join as well. They just need to figure out if there’s another interesting project, whether they can buy a team," said the Mercedes team boss according to Motorsportweek.com.
Wolff added that the manufacturer could also make its entry after 2026. "Maybe that’s not ‘26, maybe that’s ‘27 or ‘28. They would be a great addition to the grid in F1," states the Austrian, who believes Porsche's marketing input would be very beneficial for the sport.
