Verstappen laughs at confusion after second title: 'I think it's funny'

Max Verstappen, like many, did not realise until late that he had become world champion for the second time. However, Verstappen does not find the confusion that ensued annoying, but rather funny.
The end of the Japanese Grand Prix was remarkable. The interview with Verstappen had already taken place, when he was still briefly recalled. After all, Verstappen would be champion because of Charles Leclerc's penalty. However, nobody believed it due to the rule around races not fully completed, causing much confusion.
Confusion in Japan
When Verstappen is asked at the press conference if he doesn't find this annoying, after also having to wait a long time for his title in 2021, Verstappen now has to laugh. ''To be honest, I don't mind that it was a little bit confusing, I find it actually quite funny. Because at the end of the day, it's not going to change, right? ,'' said the two-time world champion.
As for the rules, Verstappen finds it difficult to pass judgement on them. ''These are really complex situations with the weather the amount of laps. And then, of course, there's a difference between if you finish the race or the race gets red flagged early on and then you can't continue. And there is of course, a difference between the two. So yeah, I do think that if you don't write enough rules, it's not good. If you write too many rules, also not good. It's always really hard to find a middle ground, I think,'' the Red Bull driver concludes.
