Schumacher gives update on son: 'We decided to go to hospital'
- GPblog.com
David Schumacher, the son of Ralf Schumacher, was involved in a serious accident in the DTM last weekend. While the driver hoped he would recover with some rest, it turns out the recovery is taking longer. The brother of Michael Schumacher tells this in conversation with Motorsport-magazin.com.
"When David came home, he was still complaining of back pain," Schumacher told Outlet. "We then decided to go to a hospital in Salzburg to have an MRI. It turned out that a lumbar vertebra was broken. According to the treating doctors, this means a break of about six weeks for David."
However, to the former Formula One driver's relief, no surgery is required. He is, however, wearing a corset to stabilise his back to ensure that recovery is as quick as possible. When he will be back in his car, therefore, remains to be seen for now.
Schumacher slowly working his way up
The 20-year-old Schumacher started in karting with his cousin Mick and managed to work his way up in recent years. He competed in both Formula 4 and Formula 3. This year, the German made his debut for Mercedes-Benz in the DTM.
