Aston Martin committed a procedural error regarding the budget cap in 2021. The FIA came to that conclusion after its own investigation and so punishment is very likely to follow for the British racing stable. Team boss Mike Krack says talks are currently being held with the governing body and it will not be long before it is known what the punishment is.

Aston Martin hopes to provide clarity this week. However, that again depends on the FIA. "I think it will be something that we try to conclude in the next days. So we had some discussions over the weekend as well with them. And I'm quite confident that we'll get it solved soon," Krack said to Autosport.com.

According to this medium, Lawrence Stroll's team was allegedly at fault over a tax issue specific to the UK, which was interpreted in different ways by the team and the FIA. The team itself is not yet willing to give a hint about the content of the penalty. Krack: "I would prefer that we have a signed agreement before we can go into it."

No clarity on Red Bull yet

Negotiations on a penalty between Red Bull Racing and FIA have been postponed, it was revealed this weekend. It has everything to do with the death of Dietrich Mateschitz. At Aston Martin, they do not expect the decision on their fate to be delayed because of this as well. The Silverstone-based formation sees it as two independent affairs and is itself as keen as possible to go public with more details. Moreover, Red Bull's case involves a financial breach of the budget cap, Aston Martin's procedural error. They did adhere neatly to the budget allowed to be spent per year.
