Daniel Ricciardo left Red Bull Racing for Alpine in 2019, left for McLaren after two years and does not appear to be active full-time in Formula 1 next year. Things have gone downhill with the Australian's career, but he continues to cheer for his former employer. Ricciaro is enjoying Max Verstappen's dominance.

"I don't think anyone will be able to stop Max before the end of the season," states Ricciardo, who suspects his former teammate will also come out on top in Brazil and Abu Dhabi. "It's nice that he breaks the record at this place: this is Maxico! This is his circuit. He has won here four times now."

Red Bull lord and master in 2022

Between 2014 and 2020, Mercedes took both world titles in Formula 1 each time, and Red Bull's lead over Ferrari and Mercedes at the end of this season looks so large that another era with one racing stable dominating is feared. Of course, Ricciardo would also prefer his team to be able to compete for wins, but he mostly admires the work of the competition.

"Some people hate this kind of dominance, but I think it is mostly phenomenal," he says. "I know Red Bull Racing very well, so in my heart I am also happy for all the mechanics and the rest of the crew. They have worked really hard for years for this and sacrificed a lot. They won all the races after the summer. That says it all," Ricciardo said to NOS.
