Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has conceded he "couldn't care less" about the potential return of V10 engines to the sport.

Meetings are set to take place about the potential re-introduction of V10s to replace the more expensive and complicated hybrid powertrains that are evolving for a new regulation set next season - though any implementation would come in 2028 at the earliest.

It remains a hot topic as F1 arrives in Bahrain for the fourth round of the new season but asked for his thoughts, Hamilton told media including GPBlog: "I probably won't be affected, so to be honest, I really couldn't care less."

"I wish we still had it"

Despite his comments, Hamilton raved about the previous generation of V10s - though he never drove with one in F1 as the championship had started to use V8s when he made his debut with McLaren in 2007.

"The V10s were great, I loved the sound. I wish we still had it. I have never been a fan of the sound of the current engines, but it was great to see the technology evolve.

"I was there in 2009 when we first had KERS. To see that develop into hybrid technology and see it in regular cars, that's pretty cool. So yeah, bring back the good sound. I would love that."
