Verstappen wins "incredible" race in Austria

Max Verstappen took victory in Austria after an action-packed grand prix. The Red Bull driver had been criticised early on in the season for his errors however his recent races put pay to those stories, taking a "brilliant" win on Red Bull's home track.

Interviewed after the race by Mark Webber, Verstappen described the win as "amazing" having been pushed all the way to the flag by both Ferrari's

"It was amazing.

"It was very good to manage the tyres as well. So we really had to look after them, a lot of blistering, but we managed to hang on until the end. It's amazing to win with Red Bull at the Red Bull Ring and with so many Dutch fans around here, it's incredible."

"I needed to catch up with the points. Today was a really good day for me and I just hope we can continue like this."

Red Bull had only led 5 laps prior to today's win on home turf, and it might very well have felt like a home grand prix for the race winner. The huge number of Dutch fans willed him to the chequered flag making their voices heard.

He was joined on the podium by Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, who retook the championship lead with the result.
