With several drivers making the move from Formula 3 to Formula 2, many coveted seats in F3 will become available in 2023. Here's what next year's grid looks like so far.

As usual in the Formula 3 class, much of the grid in 2023 will again consist of rookies making the transition from regional and national championships. However, there will also be more experienced drivers on the grid, hoping to take the title in their second year like Victor Martins did in 2022 and Dennis Hauger the year before.

Next year's F3 grid is still far from complete, but it is clear that there is plenty of room for new talent. All the 2022 protagonists are making the switch to F2 and so both newcomers and returning drivers have every chance to prove themselves in the coming season.

Young talents in F3

One team that has already completed its line-up for 2023 is Prema Racing. The reigning world champions signed Estonian driver Paul Aron and Swedish-Bosnian Dino Beganovic. Both drivers are 18-year-olds from Alpine's Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA). Beganovic concluded that championship in 2022 with the title, Aron finished third in the past two years. Williams Racing Academy Driver Zak O’Sullivan is set to take the third seat.

Rookies who have impressed already

Also from FRECA is Gabriel Bortoleto. The 18-year-old Brazilian is under contract with Trident next year and is also part of two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso's A14 Management programme. During the post-season test at Jerez, Bortoleto impressed by setting the fastest time on Thursday.

Bortoleto will be joined at Trident by German-Danish Oliver Goethe, it was announced on Friday. Goethe became the 2022 champion in the Euroformula Open and is not a new face in F3, having already competed twice last season on behalf of Campos Racing. During the main race at Spa-Francorchamps, he managed to finish fourth.

At ART Grand Prix, meanwhile, Gregoire Saucy is permanent. This makes the Swiss driver one of the drivers who is extending his stay in F3, having already competed on behalf of ART in 2022. Saucy achieved a podium position in the main race in Bahrain and finished the season in fifteenth place.

Still many empty spots on F3 grid

The above drivers are guaranteed a spot in Formula 3 in 2023, but there are still many seats left. Most of them already have candidates high on the list, but not yet confirmed. During the winter break, there will be more clarity on this.
