Sargeant declares: 'I needed to get those just in case'

Logan Sargeant will be in action for Williams next season. However, the British formation was close to finding another successor to Nicholas Latifi. Indeed, the American driver was almost short of licence points to make the switch.
Williams decided this calendar year to say goodbye to Latifi and look for a replacement. Sargeant is known internally as a great talent in the team, but for that the driver had to have enough licence points to his name.
The racing stable therefore decided to let Sargeant drive the first free practice each time in the last four Grands Prix. This also helped him get used to Formula 1. Speaking to The Race Sargeant, however, stated that the latter did not help much.
Indeed, Sargeant noticed it was not easy to perform under pressure. "I don’t think they fully allowed me to get comfortable in the car because I never really completely pushed," he revealed. "I needed to get those extra superlicence points just in case."
Sargeant prepares for debut
He plans to use the coming period to get himself ready for his first season in Formula 1. In doing so, he has set out a clear course of action for himself. "There’s no better way to pick up on that than by doing it," Sargeant stressed.
