Sergio Perez has a lot of respect for the qualities of
Max Verstappen, the Mexican told
Sky Sports. Nevertheless, the driver keeps alive the dream of winning the world championship with
Red Bull Racing in the coming years.
Several
Formula 1 drivers have struggled to compete with Verstappen in recent years. While
Daniel Ricciardo chose to switch to Renault,
Pierre Gasly and
Alexander Albon had to leave the field due to disappointing results.
Perez says he has no trouble mentally facing the challenging battle with Verstappen. The Dutchman comfortably took his second world title of his
Formula 1 career this season, but during the season Perez felt there were opportunities for him. He does want to seize those next calendar year.
Perez shows respect for Verstappen
However, he does not dare doubt Verstappen's qualities. Perez is therefore very complimentary of his teammate. "He is an experienced and complete driver," he appoints to the English medium. Perez thinks that is why all drivers in the motorsport class have a lot of trouble with him. "He is currently the best driver in Formula 1," he said.
